Training takes place at GMEC, 69 Main Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. All times are Eastern Time.

Enrollment requirements

Before the course starts, GMEC may require documentation or clearances. Requirements may include:

Proof of high school completion or equivalent.
Being 18 years of age before completing the program.
Government-issued photo identification.
Current CPR certification, if required.

GMEC will confirm which documents and clearances apply to your enrollment and provide final instructions before the program begins.

Course expectations and skills labs

The 12-week program combines instruction with required hands-on skills training. Attend all required instructional and lab sessions, complete coursework by the assigned deadlines, participate professionally, and meet GMEC’s academic and skills-competency requirements.

Topics include EMS systems and patient safety; anatomy, physiology and medical terminology; patient assessment; airway, cardiac, medical and trauma emergencies; special-population care; safe patient movement; communication, documentation and professional responsibilities; and preparation for the applicable certification examination.

Students must attend all required skills labs at 69 Main Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719, and demonstrate competency in the skills taught. Your course administrator or lead instructor will provide the detailed class schedule.

Program tuition is $1,949. The $500 registration fee is credited toward tuition. One student package is required in addition to tuition.

Materials tax and optional shipping are additional. Tuition is non-taxable. With the registration-only option, $1,449 tuition remains, arranged separately with GMEC. Full payment includes the $500 registration fee and leaves no tuition balance after successful payment.

Student materials are available for free local pickup or $19.99 package shipping. With Essential only, add an optional printed textbook for $146.65 plus tax; shipping for the Essential Package and textbook together is $19.99 total. Professional and Premium already include a printed textbook.

Certification examination and licensing fees are separate. The $500 registration fee is non-refundable once paid. Review the enrollment terms before submitting.

After registration

After successful payment, your GMEC receipt includes EMT course information, enrollment requirements and next steps. Your course administrator or lead instructor will provide the detailed schedule and final course-specific instructions before the program begins. GMEC reviews your selected cohort and package, confirms eligibility and contacts you about any remaining tuition. Your place is confirmed by the school after its enrollment requirements are met.
